Over 100,000 Tamils in Canada rejected Eelam Referendum
Sri Lanka Watch learns over 100,000 Tamils living in Canada did not vote at the referendum held there last Saturday seeking support to establish an Eelam state in Sri Lanka. Out of the 150,000 odd Sri Lankan Tamils living in Canada only about 48,481 have cast their vote saying that Sri Lanka should be divided. But a high Govt. official said that the result of this referendum will not have any effect on the policy of Sri Lanka.
