Recently a wild elephant that broke in to a house, dragged a pregnant mother to some distance and dropped her killing her instantly. The mother of the deceased told the reporters that the elephant has thought this lady to be a bag of paddy and later when it realized it is not so, it has dropped the mother to be. So it seems the Elephant is free from this case as well.
We insist that in all the clashes between humans and animals the animal cannot be blamed. According to Darwin’s evolution theory humans emerged long after the animals and it is the animals who are the true owners of land. The British migrants that came to the US attacked the indigenous red Indians and stole their land and the final result of this conflict is these migrants took over the land these Red Indians loved dearly. Gradually this happened all over the world and today man has completely taken over the land and has also reached a position where they are unable to give this back to the animals.
However our farmers, including ourselves, are not ready to accept wild elephants attacking humans as fair. So the best solution is put up effective barriers between areas allocated to the Elephants and humans. This is line creating one massive zoo and very expensive, but we do not see any other solution. What ever it is the humans will always lose their case against the Elephants because it is the humans who have the power to think.
