Ranil Wickramasinghe the leader of the UNP said at the press conference held yesterday at the office of the opposition made it clear that he would let the people of Jaffna know what the UNP plans to do on resettling the people and on the state of the displaced by war. UNP never forgot the people at any time. Hence we are firm to find a solution to the ethnic problem. Tamils, Muslims and Sinhalese are all jointly responsible for the creation of the national problem.

Because of our wrong approach the national problem developed into such a gigantic level. Hence we accepting our fault forgiving each other develop national unity he proclaimed. He pointed out that it is not right to utter communalism anymore and it should not be given any chance any more.

Wickremesinghe also said yesterday that he would renegotiate the stand-by arrangement of US $ 2.9 billion with theInternational Monetary Fund  (IMF) and strike a separate deal with them if his party comes to power at the April 8 parliamentary election.  Outlining his policies for the economic development, Mr. Wickremesinghe told a news conference that the country’s total debt had swelled to more than the total revenue.
