Poonagari resettlement would be completed soon. 12,000 persons of 3,509 families had been resettled at Poonagari up to January. Now another 1000 persons had been taken out of the Manik Farm cam of Vavuniya to be resettled.

Before the end of the month people of Kandawalai, Karaitchchi of Killinotchchi, and Poonagari of Killinotchchi district and Thirumurugandy, Selvapuram, and Mankulam areas would be resettled. The Zonal Educational offices of Killinotchchi and Thunnukkai are now functioning in their old areas. No resettlement had been undertaken in the educational area Mullaithievu Zone. Mulliyawalai Vidiyananda College which is the famous school in Vanni is in this zone. No school of Mullaithievu is functioning in its own area.

The government activities of Thunnukkai are where resettlement has taken place is undertaken by government and civil unit of the army. Police station had been opened in the resettled areas.
