President Rajapaksa accepting the ‘Doctorate Honoris Causa’ award from the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia said that having united the Sri Lankan territory, he was confident of being able to heal the wounds and unite the hearts of all the people of the country.
“It has always been my earnest resolve throughout my political career
of 40 years to respond to the trust placed in me by the people of Sri
Lanka. I am accordingly supremely confident that having united our
territory, I will be able to heal the wounds and unite the hearts of
all our people. This is the aspiration of our people,” the President
said addressing the gathering.
At the same time it is been speculated that the Parliament is likely to
be dissolved on the 09 of February for the General Elections. It is
mandatory that all the MPs, Ministers and District organizers which
represent the Alliance forward their applications.
President has strongly instructed the nominations boards to accept the
nominations of all the lawyers, media personnel, artists and social
services workers who are representing the Sri Lanka Freedom Party for
the first time, without fail.
