2 Conspirators arrested PDF Print E-mail
The two main share holders of the conspiracy that was to be launched on the 26th and 27th of January when the presidential election results were coming out, have been arrested by the CID and the Terrorist Investigations unit along with 37 others. One of the two suspects is a retired Major General while the other is an army officer. Out of the 37 two are Bhikkus while the balance 35 are officials of the defence forces.

A senior defence official said that these arrests were made on information found in the computers of Gen Sarath Fonseka’s office that was raided by the CID last 29th instant.

Interrogations of these people have revealed that the rooms at Cinnamon Lake side and Taj were booked by paying cash and they also confessed of switching off the CCTV cameras within the hotel and making arrangements to prevent details being recorded of people coming in and out of the hotel.

The CID has also taken in to custody the Jeep that took arms and explosives to a Temple in Maligawatte along with two Tamil nationals who supplied the arms.
