Govt. is violating HR and Democracy Gen. Fonseka PDF Print E-mail
Gen. Sarath Fonseka, addressing a press conference yesterday, stated that the govt has now taken up violating democracy and human rights in the country with more intensively than they did during the presidential election campaign.

As a result they have launched a vengeance campaign against those ho do not support them, including the demotion of military officials and govt servants.

He also said the following. “After the presidential elections there is no law in the country and any human rights violation case is not accepted. They are treating the gen public like prisoners and criminals. People also do not believe in the presidential election results as this is not a true victory but a victory achieved through fraud. People wanted a change but since the elections they are very sad. By now the govt has sealed my office and arrested many of my supporters while also taking back the security arrangements given to me and this is vehemently condemned by the European Union and other countries. They are obviously doing it to push me out of politics”.

Although the General says the EU and other countries have condemned, no such statements have been released to the media by any foreign country.
