40 Army Positions changed PDF Print E-mail
According to Army Headquarters there is a major shuffle within, including that of Chief of Staff of the Army. The new Chief of Staff is Major General Daya Ratnayake who was an efficient officer of the Infantry Regiment was holding the position of Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, when being appointed to the new post.

Major General Daya Rathnayake who was in the 23rd Battalion played a major role in the operation of liberating the North. He was also one time Army spokesman.
In the meantime Major General Mendaka Samarasinghe who was the Army’s Chief of Staff until now took over duties as Chief of the Defense Council Headquarters.

There are 17 Major Generals , 21 Brigadiers, 2 Colonels who are transferred to various other posts during this shuffle.

Something to be specially noted here are the transfers affecting the Commanding positions in Jaffna, Killinochchi, Mullativu and the Securty forces of the North. They have been filled by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Brigadier Aruna Bandara Rajaguru, Major General Athula Jayawardena and Brigadier Susil Udumalagama.
