Disappearance of Media Personage Prageeth Eknaligoda PDF Print E-mail
Freelance writer for web news portrayal Lanka e-news Prageeth Eknaligoda had been reported missing since last Wednesday. He was last heard at 8.30 p.m near Koswatta area. Well known writer and critic Prageeth Eknaligoda ‘s wife lodged a complaint to the Homagama police station in the aftermath of the disappearance.

Father of two children, the well-known journalist has contributed immensely to the field of reporting and supplied with hundreds of articles and news items, which signified the political attributes of the country. His renowned critical writing skills had earned him the glory of the name of a vociferous, fearless and outspoken journalist. The last article penned by Prageeth Eknaligoda had been viewed by 7000 readers from all over the world in less than two hours of time span, which is an excellent example to depict the man’s superb reporting skills.

Wife of Prageeth Eknaligoda stated she had lodged complaints at Walikada and Thalangama police stations. She meanwhile stated that Homagama Police station had refused to write the complaint earlier, insisting that nowadays disappearances of people are largely done for their own benefits and political gains.

This has been the second instance when the journalist was kidnapped. He had been questioned while tied to an iron rod with metal ropes. Although later released, Prageeth Eknaligoda had escaped with no major casualties at that time.

Prageeth Eknaligoda had worked as a co-producer for the 40 minutes report film named ‘Secrets of winning a War’ which was a documentary portraying Presidential Candidate Sarath Fonseka.

Refuting the claims of a Government involvement in the disappearance of Prageeth Eknaligoda, Coordinating office for presidential Elections of President Mahinda Rajapaksha stated that this disappearance is another lowly trick of the opposition to point a finger at the Gvt and mislead the public.
