N & E merge is a major condition of TNA Dr. Amarasekara PDF Print E-mail
President of Patriotic National Movement Dr. Gunadasa Amarasekara said during a press conference yesterday that the TNA has decided to support Gen. Fonseka at the coming presidential elections based on three conditions, including the pledge to re-merge the north and eastern provinces.

He also said the following.
“Former chief justice Sarath N Silva has also said during a rally of Gen. Sarath Fonseka that the north and east should be re-merged. Thinakkural newspaper gave extensive coverage to this statement, which was probably made to get northern Tamil votes, but it was made by the same person who gave the court order to de-merge the north and east. He also tried to back up this statement of his using some legal jargon and also made the same statement to “Lakbima News”.

Re-merging the north and east is like granting an eelam again to Tamil racists and foreign forces. This is something the TNA always demanded and they insisted that the north and east should remain merged until the 13th amendment is fully implemented.

The President also had discussions with the TNA but it did not materialize but Sarath Fonseka has agreed to all the conditions of the TNA. Today Sarath Fonseka is a pawn of foreign powers who do not want Mahinda Rajapakse to get a second term. He works for this purpose on the national level in the south with the JVP and with the UNP internationally. So if he comes to power these foreign forces will be able to implement their agendas and our defence chiefs can also be taken to an international war crimes court”.
