Ranil in the North campaigning for Sarath F PDF Print E-mail
Opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe had a two days visit in Jaffna requested the people in Jaffna to make General Fonseka win to save the country from the family based governance as well as establish freedom and democracy.

Mr. Wickramasinghe started the publicity campaign for Sarath Fonseka participating in an offering conducted in Nallur Kovil.

Addressing the Jaffna Press Mr. Wickramasinghe said “We all have come to understand the bad effects of Tamils rejecting the last presidential elections. After UNF wins the presidential elections they would put forward a political solution that would be acceptable to all communities. We would take the opinions of TNA also for the purpose”.
He further said once we come to power we will open the A-9 without any restriction from morning 6:00 hours to 18:00 hours and then it would be opened all 24 hours for any one to travel. What we have to decide is whether we need a family rule or democracy.

“First we must send the family rule home and establish true democracy. Once General is elected we would bring out a constitutional reform to grant rights and solutions to Tamils and also bring about a parliamentary rule” said Mr. Wickramasinghe.

According to him there is no need now for High Security Zone I and therefore it must be scraped off and the land owners must be permitted to enter their lands.
The opposition leader further said according to the opinions given by Tamil representatives we would make Poonagari and Pallay into big towns where factories would be set up to give employment to the youth of the area.

He also pointed out that Rajapakse family and their confidants are only benefiting from Northern Development under Rajapakse family governance and asked to vote for the General to distribute the benefits among the people.
