Three LTTE ships reported captured by SL Navy PDF Print E-mail
A reported oversea seizure of three LTTE ships armed with ammunition and war equipment is to be brought to Sri Lankan waters in the next couple of weeks by the SL Navy, sources within the government said yesterday. The process of bringing the rouge vessels are already underway with the procedures carried out in highly secretive and tight security ventures, the sources affirmed.
It is also reported that Information about the LTTE ships had been revealed to the security forces by KP in the on going interrogation efforts by the SL government. The security forces had already managed to procure valuable information from KP on the past activities of the LTTE and the terrorist network’s future plans, highly placed sources stated. Interpol has helped the security forces to act on information provided by KP, sources said.

The sources claim that, apart from transporting war material the vessels had also been used for human trafficking and drugs smuggling during the LTTE reign. The seizure is considered as the first step in the government's endeavor to confiscate LTTE's overseas assets.
