197 Schools ready to be re-opened PDF Print E-mail
59 schools in the Northern Province that were closed, have been re-opened. These schools are in Kilinochchi, Mulaitivu, Vavuniya and Mannar dists and these would also be provided with all facilities necessary to hold the GCE ordinary level exams this year.

Education Ministry has finished rebuilding 138 schools further with a cost of Rs. 917 Million, which were affected by Tsunami with.  Out of the 197 Schools 37 were from Ampara, 33 from Mannar and 24 from Galle Districts.  

Rebuilding of 35 schools was stopped due to the security reasons. Govt. has allocated Rs.11, 000 million to reconstruct the Tsunami effected schools.
