Ranil says MR was without future plans at the SLFP Convention PDF Print E-mail
UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe, addressing a press conference of the joint opposition held at the opposition leader’s office, said that the President, who do not have any future plan or vision, made the SLFP national convention a miserable failure and now he should hold elections forthwith without destroying the country as well.

Mr Wickramasinghe said the UNF will announce its Presidential candidate only after an election was announced.

Mangala Samaraweera, leader of the SLFP M faction, said that the joint opposition has not yet decided on the common candidate they are going to place for presidential elections. However this common candidate should be willing to abolish the executive presidency, re-establish media freedom and immediately resettle the northern displaced.

When asked as to who the UNF’s Prime Ministerial nominee would be, SLFP (M) leader Mangala Samaraweera said that it will be Ranil Wickremesinghe.
