Tight security for Fonseka PDF Print E-mail
Retired Chief of Defence Staff General Sarath Fonseka has been informed by the Defence Ministry that he will be provided tight security as requested by him.

Further the General can also occupy the official residence of the Army Commander until he finds a suitable place to move to.

Sri Lanka Watch correspondent in Colombo learns that General Fonseka will be provided with 70 commandos, a bullet proof car and a fleet of backup vehicles.

In his resignation letter the General had requested for tighter security as there is still a major threat to his life from the LTTE.

The Opposition leader Ranil Wickramasinghe accused the government of reducing the security for the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff.
But yesterday at the farewell ceremony, General Fonseka told the media that he had nothing to complaint about his security.
