Responding to the Question whether he is going to take up politics after retiring, General Sarath Fonseka, says that from today onwards he is ready to answer any question raised by the media. The general also said that the President did not did send a reply to the 16 reasons he gave for his decision to retire.
But in the replay to his resignation letter president’s office has stated that the Govt. will state its position his 16 point Annex in the due course.

Talking about the unruly incident at the Kalaniya Temple he  says that may be have been created by a mentally unstable person behind crowed that created chaos and any country could have such people.

The out going CDS in his farewell address today said that politics must be kept out of the Forces. After his retirement officially, said he would dedicate himself to a field where he could offer the maximum service to the country. Gen. Fonseka paid a tribute to all the soldiers, injured in the battle field and to those who fought with him side by side to save the country.
When the Press asked whether he was happy with the farewell?  The General said it is important the Army practice and salutary tradition. “I am one who respects traditions. Traditions should always be protected” he said further “So far, I have not encountered any problems regarding my security” declining all rumours.

It was quite visible to note the absence of the three forces chiefs at his farewell ceremony.
Later Gen.Fonseka visited the war memorial at Parliament grounds paying a tribute to the war heroes. He also met President Mahinda Rajapaksa today.
The General told reporters present at his farewell that he now begin a new life as a civilian and will decide whether to enter politics in the next 2 or 3 days.
