Has “Jesus Never Fails” Centre engaged in fraud? PDF Print E-mail
The Chief Magistrate of Colombo has ordered the CID to conduct a special investigation immediately to ascertain whether the “Jesus Never Fails” centre maintained at Koswatte Battaramulla has been deceiving the people by distributing CDs claiming that people are being healed.

The Magistrate made the order considering the submissions made by attorney Prasanna Lal de Alwis on behalf of the deceased Mrs. Maminona, the All Lanka Buddhist Congress and the Joint Committee of Buddhist Organizations.

The order was made after two ladies died during a prayer meeting organized by the centre on the 31st at the Vihare Mahadevi Park.

Meanwhile issuing a statement the National Christian Council of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) appeals to Christian groups engaged in controversial public healing events to review their stance in the light of the wider teaching of Christ on healing and to engage in dialogue with other Christians.

The Statement says “We appeal to Christian groups engaged in this type of public healing event to . review their stance in the light of the wider teaching of Christ on healing and to engage in dialogue with other Christians. The former is necessary since we live in a multi-religious society which calls for sensitive Christian witness. The latter is necessary since the actions of one group have repercussions on the life and work of all.”

The NCCSL requests all Christians to go about religious observances with dignity and in faith and companionship with Christ.

“We also urge all Christians to rise above any attempts to divide us or to stereotype our brother and sisters of other faiths,” they said.
