A Presidential Commission for the North Muslims PDF Print E-mail
The Muslim Peace Secretariat has made a written request from the President to appoint a commission to make recommendations to mete out justice on the Muslims driven out from the North in 1990 by the LTTE.

The Regional Officer representing the Puttalam District in the Secretariat Mr. S.S.L.N. Subasir said on enquiry that the request has been made in order to expedite the promised justice by the government to the Muslims forced out from the north by compensating them.

He also requested priority to resettle the Muslims. He wanted the families of those who had disappeared and were abducted during the ethnic conflict to be compensated. He asked that special consideration be given to their children in distributing resources and providing jobs. He also urged that the compensation estimated 19 years ago be revised to suit the present context.
