Omanthai railway station complete by Dec. 31 PDF Print E-mail
The reconstruction work of the Omanthai railway station which was jointly undertaken by the Social Services and Social Welfare Ministry and the people in the Galle district will be completed by December 31, Social Services and Social Welfare Minister Linoel Premasiri said. The Minister added that the station has access and the commuting facilities for the visually impaired and those with other disabilities while providing facilities to senior citizens and pregnant mothers.

The Railways Department has provided the technical assistance for the project while the Sri Lanka Army has contributed in clearing land mines in the area.

D.S.Senanayake College will conduct 'ARTISTIO-2009', an exhibition of Art-Sculpture-Graphic in collaboration with the Social Services and Social Welfare Ministry, 'Tharunyata Hetak' Organization and the Lions Club International-District 306-B2 at the National Art Gallery on November 3.

Meanwhile, arrangements have been made by the 'Tharunyata Hetak' Organization and the Social Services and Social Welfare Ministry to transport 100 Internally Displaced Children and teachers living in welfare villages in Vavuniya to view the art exhibition in Colombo by Yarl Devi train on November 2.
