EU wants SL to be more meaningful PDF Print E-mail
EU has stressed the government to leave their special privileges procedures applied in maintaining and protecting Human Rights and take up more steps to help the displaced in war.

It further says it would like to have constructive discussions. It did not say whether it would remove trade concessions . They pointed out that the government must stop their attitude of privileges in maintaining Human Rights.

It expressed deep worry over the continuing abductions, persons going missing and extra judicial murders that take place in Lanka. It pointed out people being kept in detention without the rights of free movement is a serious violation of Human Rights.

These people must be granted free movement rights and help them get all humanitarian aid. The country must get to some reconciliation work soon for the betterment of the country. Swedish minister pointed out that Lanka is going to face serious problems in the coming years.
