UN has decided to send Major Gen Patrick Camard, who served as the commanding officer of United Nations peace keeping force in Eritrea that helped the Tigers, to Sri Lanka on a five days visit, stating he wants to see the well being of children in the camps of the displaced.
News that came from the US last night revealed that this decision was made for the UN by Radhika Kumaraswami, who is a special envoy of the UN. Meanwhile Sri Lankan defence sections have discovered that Major Gen Camard is not an expert on welfare of children, but a person ho functioned as the military advisor to the gen secretary of the UN. A high level defence source said that they are now investigating his background and on whether to allow him to come to Sri Lanka or not. |
