13 Students remanded for Ragging. PDF Print E-mail
The Peradeniya police forwarded 12 students to the Peradeniya magistrate, who are connected to incidents and ragging and the Magistrate remanded them until the 28th of this month.

One of the students that were ragged by them is still being treated in Peradeniya hospital with serious wounds, as he has been allegedly attacked for protesting against ragging. It is said that some senior students have even gone to the residences of this student and threatened his parents as he has provided detailed information about ragging in the campus to the relevant authorities.

The new comers were told not to bathe as part of ragging while also telling them not to take breakfast, thus subjecting them to a lot of emotional pressure. It is also said that some Jayewardenepura University students have also gone to Peradeniya to rag the new commers there.
