97% IDPs resettled Govt PDF Print E-mail
Addressing the the weekly Cabinet press briefing, Spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said today that, only 3,110 remain in welfare camps. He informed the media that 97% of the IDPs have been resettled. He further added Rs.1336/- million have been allocated to resettle the remaining IDPs.
According to Government information Dept. each remaining family will be will be provided a core house with a permanent toilet in addition to common dug wells and other facilities. The relocation of 1687 families in the Mullaitivu District, 1272 families in Muttur and 166 families in Mannar District, with the assistance of the North and East security forces.
Around 300,000 civilians were saved from the grip of tiger terrorism by the security forces during the final phase of the war.
Speaking further, minister Rambukwelle said competent authorities will be appointed in the next few days to the 37 institutions that were taken over by the government.
