Tamil Buddhists are visiting Naga Temple PDF Print E-mail
Chief Incumbent of the Naga Temple in Jaffna Ven Migahajadure Siriwimala thero said at the press conference of the Sri Lanka Buddhist Congress that because of terrorism the Tamil Buddhists in Jaffna could not be accessed, but now because of peaceful environment in the country, these Tamil Buddhists have started coming back to the Naga Temple like in the past.
President of the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress Jagath Sumathipala stated the following. "There is land belonging to the Buddhist congress that were donated by Buddhists and for the last 30 years we could not go there. But today we are able to do so and we plan to construct elder's homes, children's homes and nurseries in this land. Now we also have the opportunity to rebuild the Jaffna Tamil Buddhists Association and we have information that there was about 400,000 Tamil Buddhists residing in Jaffna in the past".
