Lanka rejects US law makers call PDF Print E-mail
The Ministry of External Affairs says the US lawmakers call for a global probe into alleged rights violations by Sri Lanka in the last stages of the conflict, is unwarranted.

Ministry of External Affairs Director General of Public Communication and Spokesperson Bandula Jayasekera says “We have a robust domestic mechanism in the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton herself has said the Commission must be given time and space to complete its task,”

"We strongly believe that any conclusions reached by the Sri Lankan government's commissions must be verified by a parallel international mechanism" backed by the United Nations, dozens of senators wrote to Mrs. Clinton.
