We need a Solution on the Indian Region Basis - V. Aanandasangaree PDF Print E-mail
A solution to the ethnic problem of Lanka has to be on the Indian module of Indian regional system. The attempt to bring this opinion out the Tamil forum could be a good stage said Anandasangaee. He also opened his heart out on various topics.

Q. How do you look at the situation after the people are resettled in Vanni?
A. The situation is very bad. The people that are resettled are facing worse problems than those that are in camps for the displaced. There was a family who had no utensils to cook their food. The house had no roof. 75% of the school buildings were not reconstructed. Some giving help once in a way will not solve their poverty

Q. How is the approach of the government on the humanitarian front after war?
A. The people feel the government would not do anything for them. Some of the actions that the government undertakes hurt the hearts of the people further. The people are forced only to work under military control. In short the people have not got any change from the situation they were living before. There are checkpoints in the villages and they ask unwanted and unrelated questions. People are not allowed to have any discussions on their own. Many land s are still not released to the people again. The government is refusing to hand over the lands taken over by Tigers to the owners. The army roaming about with arms only show they want the people to live in anticipation. Many lands the people colonised themselves are now taken over saying they are needed for government use. Though the army is trying to be humane some are getting into the houses at night under the pretext of checking. The army had opened many cafeterias along A-9 highway. Hence how does the people live is the question that is now raised. There are many roads created through the jungles and no one knows what is happening there. Hence the action of the government is not transparent.
Q. You are placing so many problems of the people but how far to what level have you taken these problems?
A. I have openly informed the President and others through letters. I have also brought the problems of the people to the Indian government.

Q. What response did these two sections expose when the problems were exposed?
A. All have listened he problems but even if some were displeased on that they would not show that openly. When we place a problem to the government chief another answering too is a way to push the solution away. On the whole the government wants to keep the people controlled under army control.

Q. Tamil parties are not able to give a pressure to the government on the political solution what caused this situation?
A. Most of the parties are fighting keeping the elections before them. No one is prepared to give any solution. This is a serious situation. Those that cannot place any type do solution are trying to finish their works in the words nationalism and self-determination. This is not going to happen at any time. Some are giving support on the attachment they have to Tamil parties. When we look at the voting an old party has got only one seat. They got one seat in Killinotchchi and one in Trincomalee but not one seat in Vanni. They cannot give any pressure to the government. Hence a new approach like the Indian module can be a good solution for Tamils now.
