New UNP Constitution unanimously adopted
The new constitutional amendment of the UNP was adopted at the special convention held yesterday unanimously.
According to this new constitution leader of the party, deputy leader,
Asst leader, national organizer and chairman post will be made on the
general consensus of the working committee unanimously and if such a
collective agreement cannot be met the party will go in for a secret
ballot of the Working committee and the parliamentary group.
UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe, addressing the special UNP convention
held at Sirikotha yesterday stated that before the 2nd term of the
President is over, this corrupt govt will be chased away and a new UNP
govt will be formed and all should support this march of the UNP
discarding all petty differences.
“This govt promised to increase the wages by Rs. 2,500/= and also many
other things and although they spoke of miracles today people are living
by pawning their jewellery at Banks. When we speak against it they call
us Tigers. Today the Tigers are not with us but the govt and the govt
has also earned the wrath of the international community”
Speaking at the convention Hambantota UNP MP Sajith Premadasa sad “We
have suffered a lot of setbacks in elections and that is why we are here
today. We have to go and stand in front of a mirror and identify our
faults in order to progress successfully. This govt says that they will
build 100,000 houses and the so called housing minister, who cries for
money, has not got any money for this purpose. This govt does not know
how to build houses and when a UNP govt comes to power we will start
building houses like the Premadasa era”.
