Less School days. PDF Print E-mail
The Sri Lanka Teachers Association alleges that although the schools should function for at least 210 days per year, sue to various festivities of the govt this period has been reduced thus upsetting the education affairs of schools.
They are of the opinion that the Presidential elections, gen elections, celebration of war victories, functions like Deyata Kirula and the 2nd swearing in ceremony of the President has been the main reason for this. They also said that two days leave had been given to schools in Colombo 1, 2, 3 and 4 while the education minister has ordered all school principals in the country that the President’s speech should be shown in every school, again wasting time reserved for studies. President of the Union Joseph Stalin said that due to this festivity a term test has also been postponed while 25 schooling days have also been lost.
