Strict laws to protect dividing the country. PDF Print E-mail
The govt has decided to introduce strict laws in the coming year against politicians, various organizations and some officials in the north who are trying to divide the nation.

The reason for this is said to be the statements made by a professor of the Jaffna University and a former commissioner of the Jaffna Municipal council stating that the homeland concept in the north and east.

Under these new laws all political parties trying to divide the country would be proscribed while politicians will lose their MP posts. In the past there were no such laws and as a result many Tamil politicians went abroad and requested these govts help to create an Eelam state in Sri Lanka. In addition the pension paid to Sri Lankans living abroad who openly say that the country should be divided, will also be stopped forthwith.
