Vinayagam could be a threat to SL Security- Prof. Rohan Gunaratne PDF Print E-mail
Prof. Rohan Gunaratne, an international analyst on terrorism, warns that former Military wing chief of the LTTE Vinayagam has started LTTE activities in Europe by now and this can pose serious threat to the internal security of Sri Lanka.

He also said that as a result this man should be arrested and the European Union should be pressurized for this purpose. Prof. Gunaratne told international media recently that Vinayagam has a lot of experience setting off bombs in the south and indulge in terrorism and today he is able to carry out his activities Europe quite freely and this must be averted.

Gunaratna says that Vinayakam was the third in the pecking order in the Sea Tigers or naval wing of the LTTE and was a veteran of many naval exploits.  After escaping from the war zone in north Lanka in early 2009, Vinayakam worked underground in India with the call sign ‘Mile Four’. After the fall of the LTTE in May that year, he fled to Europe. He is now working underground in coordination with the Norway-based, over ground extremist leader, Nediyavan.  According to reliable sources Vinayakam is now meeting pro-Nediyavan Tamils secretly, in various parts of Europe.  The Sri Lankan army had believed that Vinayakam was killed in its assault on the LTTE’s naval base at Chalai on the Mullaitivu coast in February 2009. But he was not among the dead. But few days before the attack, Vinayakam was given a secret intelligence assignment by Tiger chieftain Prabhakaran and sent off to India
