351 Female Soldiers rehabilitated - Major Gen. Shavendra Silva PDF Print E-mail
Major General Shavendra Silva, addressing the United Nations Security Council, stated that during the Wanni operation 351 female child soldiers were arrested by the forces and all of them have been sent for rehabilitation.

He also said that the UN Security council should pay more attention to facts such as the LTTE recruiting children for war purposes and using young girls as suicide bombers and added that the lives of youth in the north and east was totally controlled by the LTTE. He also said that instead of books these children were given guns by the Tigers and that is why they had to be rehabilitated and the govt does not treat them as enemies but as victims of a disaster.
