The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, pointing out that the govt has not paid any attention to the amendments proposed by his party to be included this draft, has decided to refrain from voting when the draft comes up in the Parliament for approval in order to show their protests.

Mr. Nizam Kariyappar says that when these proposals come for approval at provincial councils where they have SLMC representation, including the western and the eastern province, their councillors will also refrain from voting. He also added that if they are not given an opportunity to discuss their proposals to this draft, they will also go to courts against it and also refraining from voting for it at the Parliament.
