No support from TNA & Pillayan - SLMC abstain from voting |

Chief minister of the eastern province Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillayan has said that he will not support the proposed Local govt Elections amendment Bill as there are come unclear areas in them and also he has no need to support it.
This amendment draft is to be tabled at the Eastern Provincial council
assembly tomorrow and the chief minister said no one can force him to
support anything that is not clear and lacks details.
TNA MP Suresh Premachandran said that his party opposes the Local
Authorities Elections (Amendment) Bill. It provides for the conducting

The Sri Lanka Muslim Congress, pointing out that the govt has not paid
any attention to the amendments proposed by his party to be included
this draft, has decided to refrain from voting when the draft comes up
in the Parliament for approval in order to show their protests.
Mr.
Nizam Kariyappar says that when these proposals come for approval at
provincial councils where they have SLMC representation, including the
western and the eastern province, their councillors will also refrain
from voting. He also added that if they are not given an opportunity to
discuss their proposals to this draft, they will also go to courts
against it and also refraining from voting for it at the Parliament.
